Q. How did you get started writing and how long have you been writing?
A. Way back at the turn of the century (holy cow right?) In 2001, I was working this God awful PR job I hated. I loved the writing, but the schmoozing wasn’t for me. Anyway, going home on the train, I saw everyone reading Bridget Jones’s Diary, and I decided to pick it up. It was the first time I’d read a book where the voice was similar to one I used talking to my friends. Funny, irreverent. Not perfect, but real. Right after reading it I thought, “I can do that! How hard can it be? Meet cute, funny dialogue, packed action aAnd we’re off.” Little did I know.
No seriously. How little I knew then. Especially when it came to character, conflict,
motivation, and goals. It took me 8 long years to finish my first book. It was utter rubbish. Like so bad. I can’t believe I subjected people to it. A very dear writer friend said, “Hey, that’s super cute. Now write another one.” That next book was Game, Set, Match, my first published novel.
Now here’s my for realsies Bio my assistant insists I should put up.
USA Today Best Seller and iTunes Breakout Books author, Nana Malone's love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she borrowed from her cousin.
It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.
While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, in the meantime Nana works out her drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is.

Q. Do you have any advice for beginning writers?
A. Write. Everyday. No seriously. I don’t care what it is. Just write. The muse is a myth. BITCHOK. Butt in the chair, hands on keyboard. Some friends of mine like to add, typing away madly. If this is your passion, put in the work. Books don’t get written in front of the Walking Dead, or Heroes, or Lost Girl…Uh…do not follow my example. turn off the TV…write!
Q. If I send you my idea or book will you write it?
A. No. Legally I can’t read your idea or write your book for you. That is something you must do yourself. Besides, it’s more fun that way. And no two authors would do the book the same way.
Q. If I send you my book can you help me get it published?
A. Again, no. I’m sorry but I can’t help you get published. With a schedule well into 2018, I just am not able to.
Q. Will you read my book and provide a blurb?
A. I’m so sorry, but no. As a general policy, I do not provide quotes for books.
Q. What kind of music do you listen to, if any?
My musical taste is all over the place. Depends on the book really, or sometimes the scene. Right now I have everyone from the Magic Mike soundtrack, to Dianne Reeves to Sam Hunt on my playlist.
Q. Who are your favorite authors?
Oh my gosh, SO MANY! ALL the authors! ALL the books. I’m a little obsessive. Minx Malone, Alisha Rai, Misty Evans and Nora Roberts are on my faves list at any given time.
Q. Where do you get your ideas from?
A. Ha! Usually the shower.
Q. Are your characters or books based on real life?
A. I’ll take snippets of personalities or events that really happened and weave them in in a fantastical way. A lot of the funny or embarrassing things have actually happened to me. Lol. But otherwise any resemblance to someone real or fictional is purely coincidental.
Q. Where do you get your covers from?
A. Many of my covers come from the awesome Kim Killion at Hot Damn Designs
Q. Are your books available in other countries or languages?
In other countries… YES! I’m working on other languages.
Q. The book you sent me won’t open?
A. Oh no! First thing’s first open the files from a browser, not your mail client. (Thanks to the user who let me know that’s what her issue was.)
If it is a Kindle book, there is one reason for this. Amazon doesn’t allow direct sends to kindle unless you authorize an email address. How do you do this? It’s easy. Go to your account – manage your content and devices – settings.
At the bottom of the page, you’ll see an area for you to authorize an email address. Enter the sending email address. You will also notice you have a kindle email addy there. Copy that. That’s where you will email the book I send you. Refresh your kindle and Voila!
Have an apple mobile device? Little secret, Apple put an app on your phone that will automatically open epub files. All you have to do is click them and they will open. Go on, give it a shot 🙂
Q. How can I get your books in paperback?
A. Where all ebooks are found, you will find links to my paperback copies. ALSO, with my Harlequin book, check your local Barnes and Noble, Target, Walmart or Costco
Q. Which of your books is your favorite?
A. I refuse to choose between children. Though some characters insist on being picked favorite (I’m looking at you Xander from London Calling)
